The Star Wars Opening Crawl Finally Reaches Earth [Comedy]

I took two astronomy classes in college, and one of the few things I retained is that in space stuff just keeps floating. Thus, the Star Wars opening text, though originating galaxies away, will eventually make its way to Earth...

That catastrophic eventuality is the subject of this video, which was was filmed over a couple of hours but ultimately took weeks to complete due to all the post-production and editing. And it shows; the effects are pretty impressive throughout.

Though I guess if you're gonna do a high concept YouTube like the Star Wars text raining down on Earth, it's best to do it right. [Reddit]

Fils Sound Film transparent speaker hands-on (video)

Korean gadgets these days are either gunning for next-to-nothing thinness or mind-boggling transparency, which is marvelous. Today we came across another Korean company (and an old friend), Fils, which does transparent "sound film" speakers in many forms: photo frame, umbrella, curtains, cap, hoodie and even model yacht (yeah, seriously), all thanks to the highly-flexible piezoelectric film. Sure, the sound quality was hardly top-notch, but apparently Fils is hooking up with a few big-name Korean electronic companies (TVs?), so we're all going to suffer soon whether you like it or not. So it's no surprise to see Adobe riding Google's coattails by demoing its Flash beta preview on this so-called superphone. Milestone multitouch browser ported to the Droid by a user-made patch (video)

This little nugget of software is itself still in beta, but if you can't wait for the full Milestone firmware port to climb out of alpha development, it's a good alternate route to getting your Droid dancing in the "pinch to zoom" party. Once again produced by the good folks over at AllDroid, the patch substitutes the Droid's default browser with the Milestone's multitouch capable one -- and from the feedback we're seeing it does so very cleanly and painlessly, whether you're running Android 2.0.1 or 2.1. You'll still need to root your device first, and some background reading is advisable before jumping in, but then you should be clear for take-off into the world of multitouch browsing. All You Need for the New Year Is Love and This Uplifting Video [Music]

Remember the extremely popular and heart-touching Stand By Me video? That was recorded in a virtual studio around the world during different days. Here's the not-less-heart-touching All You Need in Love, recorded in 156 countries at exactly the same time:

The video was recorded on December 7, 2009 at 1:30pm Greenwich Meridian Time. All the different musicians in 156 locations started to sing the song at that time, with the same tempo. They obviously were good, because when the results were assembled in a single track, everything matched.

The event was organized by Starbucks to help raise awareness of AIDS in Africa for the (RED) foundation. Like the Stand By Me video, the result will touch even the more-coldester-hearted bastards among you. And if it doesn't, you need a punch in the bracket.
