Machine Gun USB Drive
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on January 3rd, 2010

If having a USB drive resembling the bullet from a machine gun isn’t enough for you, perhaps this USB drive made to look like an actual machine gun would be better suited for you. Don’t worry, it’s not quite as large as a machine gun, so it is somewhat portable. Although I’d advise keeping it away from places like the airport, despite that it is small enough to fit into your pocket.
Even though it appears pocket-sized, I’m not sure it’d be very comfortable within your pocket. These Machine Gun USB Drives look like they have plenty of small pieces to poke you with and even break off within your pockets. However, you could just leave this 4GB drive on your desk. You can purchase the drive for $22 through USB Geek, which isn’t too bad of a price for a 4GB drive.

Go green with Huntkey 90W Energy Star Universal Notebook Adapter
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on January 2nd, 2010
Going green has been the mantra where consumer electronics and transportation are concerned for a fair number of years already, and we have good reason to be worried about the condition of our earth when we pass on – do we make sure that our kids are able to live in a clean environment, or must they wear gas masks with oxygen tanks each time they head outdoors? The choice is ours, and there are many methods that we can take to make sure that apocalyptic scenarios do not occur once we have breathed our last. Apart from taking public transport and making more earth-friendly choices in terms of food, another way would be to use more green electronics. Don’t know where to start? How about taking an inventory of all your appliances at home and see which are the ones that have green alternatives, choosing those models the next time you want to make a purchase. As for computers, Huntkey has a solution in the form of the 90W Energy Star Universal Notebook Adapter.
What makes this Huntkey offering so different from the rest? Well, the 90W Energy Star Universal Notebook Adapter is able to reach the Energy Star-V standard for starters, where the more output power it has, the higher power consumption laptop it can supply. Take for example a 15″ (or greater) laptop display screen with an independent graphics card – it will probably require such an adapter. Apart from that, the Huntkey 90W Energy Star Universal Notebook Adapter is also more than capable of meeting people’s needs where high efficiency is concerned, as it can hit up to 87% of power efficiency to place it at the highest level of power efficiency of any Energy Star Specification. In layman’s terms, the higher the efficiency, the more consumers are able to save on their monthly power bills.
Don’t worry about the Huntkey 90W Energy Star Universal Notebook Adapter being limited in use to certain countries only – it functions worldwide by supporting input in the range of 100-240Vac at 50-60 Hz, alongside an output voltage of 19V DC, at 0.47A max. Each purchase comes with ten different tips that cater to a variety of laptop brands including HP, DELL, Lenovo, Asus, Thinkpad, Acer, Compaq, Toshiba, Sony, Samsung, Gateway, Panasonic, Sharp and Fujitsu among others. You will also be glad to know it comes with a two-year warranty and a free carrying bag for added convenience.

Peanut Memory Stick Holder
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on January 1st, 2010

Even hearing about a memory stick holder, most people would instantly write it off as ridiculous. At first, I would have agreed. However, there are several cases where it could make life a little more convenient. A lot of USB drives have a way to hang onto them through their lid. If you lose that lid though, you lose the ability to carry it on your keys. This holder would allow for you to store your USB drive on your keychain and keep it safe.
It’s just a small peanut shaped holder that conceals your drive within it. Really, I think it’s better than a lot of the drives that comes with the keychain attached to either the drive itself or the lid. Either option comes with complications. This way you can solve both issues by storing it in a neoprene case (that’s the stuff they make wetsuits out of). You can purchase one of these cases for $6.99 through Pop Deluxe.

Folderix Flash Drives shaped like folders
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on December 31st, 2009

Those poor yellow folders don’t seem to get nearly as much use now that you can do a great deal of your paperwork on the computer. Sure, paper copies of things are still helpful, but those folders will never be used as much as before. If you’re feeling a little sentimental and want to show that you remember the paper folder, now you can have a flash drive that’s shaped like one.
Alright, so it was actually designed to look like the folders within your computer. Which means for those of you that like to take your computer interactions a little more literal, this would work great. Then when you say you need to put something in the folder, it’s going into an actual folder shaped drive. It’s available in 3 different colors, the gold/yellow color, blue and purple. These drives designed by Art Lebedev can hold 4GB of data and will cost you $55 a piece.

The 24-Port USB Hub
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on December 30th, 2009

If you have USB devices coming out of your ears, then you might need a hub to help you out with that. This hub manages to keep a full 24 ports available for you to jam your USB related items into. For the average person you might have to get extremely creative in order to fill up all of those ports. However, I’m sure there are others out there that are fully capable of finding a use for a hub of this size.
The hub comes in only the color sequence seen here. It keeps things pretty basic, it doesn’t have any flashing lights or come in a silly shape. Instead it just makes sure that you’ll never have to buy another hub again. Just plug it into your computer and it’ll be ready to go. You can purchase it for $69.99 from USB Fever. That is a slightly steep price, but considering all of the ports built into it, it may be worth the price.

Mini Folding Fan for notebooks
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on December 28th, 2009

Most notebook cooling fans look the same – they all come in a single, rectangular design that is more often than not boring to say the least. This one from UXSight, however, is slightly different, as it does bear some resemblance to shurikens from ninjas of yore, coming in the form of a Mini Folding Fan. Yes sir, this black notebook cooling pad features an integrated fan which will help dissipate hot air away from your notebook to keep things running nice and cool. As we all know, electronics are loathe towards heat and dust, so this kills two birds with one stone. Boasting a low running noise, it requires not a power adapter since juice is provided directly via a USB port. When not in use, you can fold up the fan’s “fins”, so to speak, for easy transportation. It costs a mere $9.69 – any takers?

The USB Duckling 4 Port Hub
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on December 27th, 2009

I’m a strong believer in finding a USB hub that really reflects your personality. If you prefer clean simplistic items, then the average looking USB hub is just fine. However, if you have that quirky streak going for you, then you should show it off proudly with an odd USB hub. For those that enjoy their rubber duck when they’re in the tub, there’s this Duckling that’s happy to accommodate your USB needs.
The duck has 4 ports, which is plenty for the average person. Plus it comes in the shape of a perky little duck. He comes in more than just the classic yellow too. You can get him in plain white or in a bright blue instead if that suits you better. The duck works just like your basic USB hub would. Just purchase it for $10 through USB Brando and you’ll be set up with 4 extra ports.

Machine Gun Ammo USB Drive
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on December 27th, 2009

If you’re into your guns, this is one USB drive with your name on it. It’ll store your important data, all the while appearing to be a very menacing looking bullet. Despite the quirky shape, it’d still be extremely portable, which is always a must with USB drives. Once it’s in your pocket it wouldn’t weigh you down any more than a tube of Chapstick would.
These bullets are cold resistant thanks to the metal exterior, as well as being dampproof, shockproof, heat resistant and antimagnetic. It has every perk that you could hope for with an affordable USB drive. It doesn’t have a ton of storage space, but 2GB isn’t too shabby for the price either. These bullets meant to look like machine gun ammunition come in both gold and silver. You can purchase one for $19.99 through China Grabber.

Joker Racer R/C Server
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on December 26th, 2009

A server on wheels – what comes to your mind when that phrase is mentioned? Most of us might think of a waiter wearing a pair of skates, but this time round, we’re talking about the Joker Racer R/C Server. This is a real deal Linux server that has been shrunk to a miniscule size, making it small enough to be installed onto radio-controlled cars, where you can then control it from a standard Web browser or using a client program for the iPhone (which is currently under development, seeing action only sometime next year). While the Joker Racer R/C Server is not for sale at the moment, it could have plenty of potential especially in a tie up with Tamiya or other notable R/C car manufacturers.

Accordion Travel Speaker
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News, Technology on December 24th, 2009

If you need a travel speaker, this one will stand in the shape you need it. Just fold it up and toss it in a bag, then when you’re in dire need of a speaker just unfold it. Once unfolded it stands up straight or even in a slightly more wavy pattern if that’s what you require. With the fold up design it’ll make sure the speakers stay safe while you’re knocking them around in your bag.
The bright white speakers are said to have powerful sound (which of course, every seller claims). The stiff hinges keep the speaker open and then it has an LED power indicator light to let you know the speaker is up and going. The speaker has a couple different power options. You can run it on the 3 AAA batteries or you can plug it into your USB port and power it that way. It has a total of 3 speakers and can be purchased for $14 from Urban Outfitters.
