Bullet Space Pen writes underwater

375bulletspacepen

You may have spotted the bullet shaped USB drive that made its way onto the site only a few days ago.  If you decided to pick one up, you’ll need one of these space pens to finish off the set.  It not only looks like a bullet, but it can manage to write under conditions that a normal pen wouldn’t survive.  All of that is thanks to a special cartridge that’s placed in all Fisher pens including this one.

That cartridge was designed to be used in the zero gravity environment while in space.  It can write at absolutely any angle, including upside down and is capable of writing while you’re underwater.  Now if only you could get your notepad to survive underwater.  It can also write on top of grease and oil and when it’s dealing with extreme temperatures.  The specialized thixotropic ink can also write three times longer than if you were using just normal ink.  You can purchase the .375 Caliber Bullet Space Pen for $24.95 from Vat 19.

The Emperor 1510 is one awesome seat of power

emperor1510-200_cEqw5_12-500x282Some of you may remember the If Blofeld was a gamer article that we posted a while ago that brought the Emperor 200 from NovelQuest into the spotlight. This was at CES last January, and it cost a hefty price of about $40,000.

I’m not certain how much reception the company received over that product, but I can tell you that I really don’t have 40 grand to spare. Perhaps this is why they developed the Emperor 1510, which costs $4,000.

Yes, that is about one tenth of the price, and from what I have read, it looks like it does essentially the same things. It appears to have the 3 big LCD monitors, and I hope it has the touchscreen control center.

I had a chance to try it out at CES last year, and I remember playing a very cool game on it that really made me feel like I was in the heart of the action.

I would imagine that the station is called the Emperor because the Emperor from the Star Wars movies would have absolutely loved this. In fact, this beats out that big old chair he sat in in the Return of the Jedi by far. Remember how he had to tell someone to fire the big gun? With the Emperor 1510, the wrinkly ugly guy could have just aimed and fired on his own.

There is a rumor going around that the Prince of Dubai has already ordered something like ten of these. If you have the money to spare, then you should be able to order them up now.

ZyXEL offers first fixed LTE CPE/SOHO router in the world

zyxelrouter

ZyXEL is at the forefront of networking technology yet again in the consumer electronics segment with their latest release, touted to be the first fixed LTE (Long Term Evolution) CPE/SOHO router in the world. The model, known as the ZLR-2070S, is basically an all-in-one, multi-service gateway which leverages compact, system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology in order to deliver cost-effective, non-FPGA-based LTE connectivity to the masses. For those who are interested to know what the ZyXEL ZLR-2070S is capable of, you might want to head down to CES 2010 and check out their suite in the Renaissance Hotel for more information. Meanwhile, we’ll do our best to offer you a broader overview on the ZLR-2070S until January rolls on.

LTE is most possibly going to be the next big thing, so to speak, in wireless communications technology as it is full well capable of delivering blazing-fast multimedia connectivity on an all-IP platform. Consumers who have gone for LTE would definitely tell you the stark difference in upgrade of performance and services over Internet-enabled fixed and mobile devices that are connected via LTE. Apart from that, LTE also opens up a whole new era of connectivity across various industries which include (but are not limited to) consumer electronics, appliances, health care, public utilities and telematics.

Regardless of whether it is meant for residences or SOHOs, the ZLR-2070S aims not to disappoint by offering a feature-rich, future-proof hardware platform that is optimized for multi service. This will comprise of broadband Internet connectivity, a couple of VoIP ports, home networking through a four-port, 11n wireless switch, a USB port which allows you to hook up a plethora of devices including printers and storage. Service providers are also able to take advantage of the ZLR-2070S by enabling Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) support and other smart home automation services.

You will find that the ZLR-2070S boasts superior data rates of up to 50Mbps throughput in theory, which is much speedier compared to current 3G technologies like HSPA/EV-DO. The router’s 4G wireless connectivity makes it ideal for operators who want to offer such a service in rural or other traditionally under-served markets where new wireline deployments are normally cost-prohibitive. Apart from that, the level of portability afforded makes the ZLR-2070S perfect for virtually any scenario where customers require high-speed, multi-user Internet access in a temporary location. Bosses ought to love this as there would no longer be any more excuse for their minions to claim that there is no Internet connection in the vicinity – assuming 4G connectivity is widespread worldwide.

monster-600x437

The stand is said to keep your laptop cool and therefore extend the life of the laptop.  It’s hand crafted from laser cut acrylic and has rubber feet to protect the computer as well as the desk.  It does require a little assembly when it arrives at your home, but it’ll only take a few seconds to do the job.  You can choose to get this in red, but it also comes in clear as well.  The stand is made to fit 15” through 17” laptops.  There will be a 14” version coming out soon though.  You can purchase the Monster Monster laptop stand for £26.99 or about $44.  Don’t worry the stand does actually ship worldwide.
