iTwinge iPhone Keyboard Video Makes Me Cringe a Little Less [IPhone]

So you saw the iTwinge photos yesterday—that crazy physical keyboard with underside nubs for the iPhone's touchscreen. It was easy to write off without seeing in action, so the company has sent around this hands-on video:

I'm slow as hell with my iPhone's keyboard, and tend to only check emails, or send quick responses. I should probably just suck it up and get faster, but I'm curious if the $30 gizmo would help. Having to slide the holster on and off between emails (to use the screen again) could be a pain in the ass, though. Overall, a little less skeptical than I was, what about you? [itwinge]

iTwinge Is the Stupidest iPhone Accessory of All Time, Ever [IPhone]

iTwinge is a dumb, ugly holster that attaches to your iPhone so you can tap out emails using a shitty "real" keyboard instead of good touch keyboard.

I mean, if you're going to pay $30 to horribly disfigure your iPhone, it should at least be for a good keyboard. Not to mention the implementation—it draws power from the phone, suggesting it's just got nubs inside that touches the screen where you press—sounds like a recipe for shoddy disastercakes. iTwinge: the perfectly named iPhone keyboard
Um, where to begin? How about a definition:
twinge n. A brief experience of emotion, typically an unpleasant one.
Funny, that's the reaction we had when first laying eyes on Mobile Mechatronics' iTwinge iPhone keyboard. At the moment, we're unclear if the iTwinge electronically docks to the base of the iPhone or if it's just a $30 (plus shipping) sleeve with Pogo-like coating for capacitive touchscreens. According to the FAQ, the ultra-low power iTwinge "uses the phones power" but doesn't require any software to work with Apple's iPhone 3G or 3GS handsets. Regardless, after 4 hours of usage an "average user" will increase typing speed by 30% to 40% with 70% to 80% fewer typing errors. Golly! If you pre-order now you can expect shipment in November. So go ahead, we dare ya. Another pic after the break.
