Canon EOS 7D firmware update cures ‘residual image’ phenomenon
Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News on November 6th, 2009
Say what you will, but Canon's customer service / engineering department definitely looks out for consumers willing to spend just under two large on a new body. Merely days after the outfit made public that a "residual image phenomenon" was negatively impacting EOS 7D images under certain conditions, it has now published a firmware update to wipe all of those woes away. Firmware v1.1.0 specifically "corrects a phenomenon that in images captured by continuous shooting, and under certain conditions, barely noticeable traces of the immediately preceding frame may be visible." Hit the read link if you're looking to put said phenomenon to bed. Or don't. We don't care.[Via CNET]

Posted by: Gadget Boy in Gadget News on September 9th, 2009

Along with the new handset, Palm will offer five artist-designed back covers in the "Palm Pixi Artist Series" -- similar to Zune Originals and Dell's Design Studio laptops -- which can be purchased separately... of course. Touchstone owners take heart: those backs, as well as a separate black backing that you'll also pay extra for, are all compatible with the accessory. In addition to the hardware, Palm will be introducing a native Facebook app when the Pixi hits, as well as new Yahoo! and LinkedIn integration for Synergy. Right now no date for launch has been set, though Palm says the phone will be ready in time for the holidays. The company is also mum on price, but coupled with the news that Sprint will be slimming the Pre's entry point down to $149.99, we have to assume it's going to be in the $99-or-less ballpark. We had a chance to play around with the new phone, so read on after the break for our initial, early impressions.

TechCrunch hears that Palm's going to reveal Pixie (aka Eos), its second WebOS phone that's supposedly gonna be small, skinny and cheap, sometime this week, for Fashion Week.
Sorta surprising, since the timing feels weird, not to mention there were rumors it was delayed (granted, how can a phone that doesn't officially exist really be delayed). But like TechCrunch says, Palm does have a strange sense of timing. [TechCrunch]
