Hi-Fido Limited Edition Speaker

Hi-Fido_speaker

I never thought that I could own a speaker that I felt like I could pet, but now there is something out there that’s looking a bit like a dog.  Not in the dog ugly sort of manner, but it actually has four legs and a tail.  It’s even called Hi-Fido in honor of the dog-like appearance.  All around making for a very cute speaker to have in your home.

It will be a little difficult to get your hands on though.  A total of 10 of these will be available in the US and that’s it.  Which means it’s pretty safe to say that a majority of us will never actually see one of these in person.  The speaker itself uses the acoustic properties of ceramic to diffuse hi quality sound with a bass reflex system.  It of course swears to have top of the line sound quality and considering how few of these are being created it’s probably true.  Currently they aren’t saying how much one of these will cost, but I doubt it’s cheap.

Tootsie Pop Candy Buds Headphones

tootsie

Earbuds seem to be getting more and more interesting lately.  You can find anything from wooden ones to the more strange types that make things seem to appear on one side of your head and continue to the other.   Well now you can even get a pair branded with your favorite type of candy.  These specifically go with the classic Tootsie Pop logo on the side.  It’s better suited for those that like unique electronics that don’t take things too over the top.

These headphones are pretty basic and thankfully affordable to top it off.  They come with an extra long cord and 95db sensitivity.  They also have 160 Ohm impedence and  20-20,000Hz frequency.  They even come in a container that resembles an oversized Tic Tac container.  You can purchase these bright red Candy Buds Headphones for all of $10 through Urban Outfitters.

Star Wars Lightsaber MP3 Player

star_wars_lightsaber_mp3_player

This MP3 player is definitely for the extremely dedicated Star Wars fans.  There are those that just watch the movies and can throw out the occasional quote.  Then there’s the other bunch that can quote over half of most of the movies and has at the very least gone someplace with a toy lightsaber attached to their hip.  That is, if not going in full storm trooper gear or in any other Star Wars costume.  Well for those that live and breathe Star Wars now you can own a lightsaber MP3 player.

A couple of years back there were rumors of such a device existing, but it could never actually be confirmed.  Now there is a company offering these MP3 players in two different forms.  They aren’t out just yet, they’ll be released sometime in February of this year.  It measures 3.14 inches in length and has a microSD memory card slot.  There is no LCD screen, so the songs will just be played in the order that they’re stored on the memory card.  You can purchase one of your own for $23.90 from NCSX.

Speaker Bot plays your MP3 player

lipson_robot_speaker_bot

Despite all of the conspiracy theories that robots will someday take over the world, you can’t help but love this robot.  He’s completely harmless, all he does is play your favorite music all day long.  He may have a permanently goofy expression on his face, but at least he has his uses.  Plus he’s made out of new and old parts, which means you’d be giving new use for old discarded electronics.

These robots ship out worldwide and are assembled in New York by Lipson Robotics.  In order to power the speaker, you can use the power adapter and plug it into the wall, use batteries or plug it into the USB port on your computer.  He even comes branded with a metal nameplate to declare the robots origins (Lipson Robotics).  The speaker will work with any MP3 player and can be purchased for $550 from Etsy.

Logic Bolt Projector Phone

PhoneImage_MenuScreenThere has been a lot talk about the LG eXpo, a phone that has a pico-projector. However, CES last year had on display Logic Wireless’ Bolt projector phone. That phone is capable of throwing a VGA image on the wall that is 64 inches wide.

Of course, the projector is only one of the features of this phone that can run Symbian. It also has a touchscreen, as well as slots for two SIM cards.

It also has two cameras, one for the front and one for the back. I suppose that this is some design for the days when cellular phones will be all video-capable. Yeah, I’m still awaiting that day myself.

The Logic Bolt is available at, of all places, Sky Mall. It costs about $500, and that’s the unlocked price. I don’t know who wants this particular phone, as it doesn’t seem to have a carrier.

I’m going to venture a guess and say that this will be on display on CES on a little more than a week. If so, I would like to see how the projector fares against pico-projectors. If it can make the images more clear, then there might be market for this. As it is, it seems a little excessive.

Round 2 of Crazy Earphones from Solid Alliance

crazy_earphones_3

There’s nothing quite like owning a pair of earphones that make it appear as if you have a mushroom growing out of both ears.  You’re bound to turn heads, but you may cease to turn the heads of the opposite sex in a way that you’d prefer.  Instead of a come hither look, you may begin to receive that social leper look.  However, if you can ignore all of that, you’ll have some of the most unique and hilarious earphones around.

These Crazy Earphones will be released next month.  It appears that it’ll only include four different versions.  There are the mushrooms, the arrow through an apple, a miniature ear and then a katana.  Each one begins one one ear and makes it appear as if it goes through to the next.  Each pair will cost you $22.  Although they’re only being released in Japan, so it may be difficult for those outside Japan.
